Most Christian women long for community, fellowship and someone to invest in them. This is a very biblical longing one that is instructed of us to partake in by God. So how do we do this? How do we move beyond small talk and prayer requests to actually growing together? One way to start is by reading Melissa Kruger’s book “Growing Together”.
About the book
This book is written in such a way that it can be read in a one-on-one discipleship relationship, with a small group of ladies or just by yourself. In the first few chapters of the book Melissa steps well into the role of an older woman teaching and instructing younger women (her readers). She also helps outline what discipleship relationships can look like and conveys well the calling of Titus 2:4-8.
This book will truly challenge you to grow in maturity through discipleship relationships, and through reading, memorizing and praying scripture. Melissa’s questions at the end of each chapter are convicting and challenging, allowing space for honest reflection. “Growing Together” left me excited to be in a small group with my church family and to help nurture discipleship relationships in my own life and in the lives of others.
I would recommend “Growing Together” to anyone who wants to go deeper with other women and live out Titus 2:4-8 with more intentionality.
If you are in a place where you can teach a younger woman in your life but don’t know where to start, this is a wonderful resource to use! If you are a younger woman longing to grow in maturity with other women, ask a sister in Christ to read this book alongside you!
A QUOTE AND A QUESTION
“We begin to realize that the bedrock of our contentment isn’t the goodness of our day but the goodness of our God.”
p.132
- What is the foundation of your contentment and what can cause this foundation to crumble?
- How can the knowledge of who God is strengthen our contentment no matter the circumstances?
